ADVOCASE offers a new service to expedite the clearing of the Workers Compensation Partial Permanent Disability case backlog.
New Service in response to 2012 State Impairment Guidelines Protocol.
Dr. Warren Silverman, Medical Director for AdvoCase in Malta, New York, announced today that the company has had the first claimant entered into its new program to assist the Law Judges of the Workers Compensation Board to process and make determination on the Loss of Wage Earnings Capacity utilizing the new guidelines which became effective in January 2012. Under this guideline, the judges are tasked with making this determination utilizing a complex series of factors and information, including the Determination of Impairment provided by medical provider input, as well as a number of other factors regarding vocational status and potential employment. The benefit of an objective, unbiased and complete assessment to this process is clear.
The AdvoCase program bundles the three critical pieces and offers a state of the art Dossier specifically dealing with the claimant's disability and employability. The process involves:
1. A functional Capacity evaluation performed by an unbiased physical therapist
2. An analysis of the vocational job prospects and earning capacity of the claimant by a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist
3. A medical assessment, including a medical examination and review of the claimant and the aforementioned assessments resulting in a medical opinion on the Degree of Impairment performed by an Occupational Medicine Specialist
This complete package will afford the Judge handling this claim, an opportunity to have a complete, objective, and comprehensive resource to use as the basis for a determination. With this tool, the goal is to remove subjective bias and to assure compliance with the intent and detail of the guidelines as set forth by New York State. We believe this tool will be the gold standard in this process and will allow for expedited determinations of these claims.
